Laurencia poitei (Queen of Clubs Laurencia)
Holds not folds. No bluff.
Why It’s Algaesome
• Distinctive club-shaped branches give this macro its “Queen of Clubs” nickname and create a textured look similar to Botryocladia sp. in displays.
• Deep rusty red to pink to burgundy coloration adds a fairly unique coloration to the bolder greens and reds of macroalgae. Color varies based on lighting, with deeper colors coming out in higher light.
• A sturdy species that attaches well to rock or rubble and holds its shape in moderate flow.
• Excellent for macroalgae tanks, refugiums, and reef displays.
• Like many red macros, it contributes to nutrient uptake while adding natural habitat for pods and microfauna.
Sizing and Availability
Portions typically include a healthy clump of branching growth attached to rubble or ready to attach. Most pieces range from roughly 3–5 inches across, though exact shape and branching structure will vary naturally.
Collected from Florida waters, availability can vary seasonally depending on conditions and collection success.

A Note from the Collectors:
Every macroalga we offer is hand collected, acclimated, and observed before shipping. While we try to remove other algae, sponges, and tiny hitchhikers, a few reef goodies may tag along... it is a natural part of receiving genuine wild collected specimens. In the wild, this species tends to grow on/over sponges, rock rubble, shells, and other semi / rigid structures. Therefore, it is common to be collected with sponges and small portions of other macroalgae attached.
Some specimens may arrive lighter after shipping but usually regain their glow after a few days under stable reef lighting.
We ship via 2 Day service on Mondays and Tuesdays to help ensure specimens arrive healthy. Tracking information is provided when your order ships.
