Palm Tree Caulerpa

Description

Caulerpa paspaloides — Palm Tree Caulerpa

Bring the Palm Keys home (without the sunburn)!

What You Get

A hand-collected rhizome runner of Caulerpa paspaloides with multiple miniature, palm-shaped fronds. In the wild it anchors into sand and rubble via a thick, creeping rhizome. In areas with lower current, the fronds grow looser and fluffier, while higher flow encourages taller, more compact palms. Wave action naturally keeps the fronds free of sand and micro-debris. In aquariums, a gentle swish from the aquarist occasionally fills in for the ocean.

Why It Is Algaesome

  • Instant tropical vibe: The closest thing to reef-safe coconuts...tiny palms for your tank.
  • Strong nutrient uptake: Excellent at reducing nitrate and phosphate.
  • Shapeshifter beauty: Forms tight triangular palms in shallow light or softer feathered fronds in deeper conditions.
  • Caulerpa without the drama: Far less prone to sporulation than most Caulerpa species with a consistent lighting cycle and when pruned regularly.
  • Propagates effortlessly by pinching the rhizome into sections, making it easy to shape or share.

Sizing & Availability

Each order includes one rhizome piece ~8–12″ with 3–4 palm clusters. Color, frond spacing, and shape vary naturally by depth, season, and collection site.

A Note from the Collectors:
Every macroalga we offer is hand-collected, acclimated, and observed by our team before shipping. While we carefully try to remove other algae, sponges, and tiny hitchhikers, it’s possible that a few “goodies” from the reef may tag along. It's a natural part of receiving genuine wild-collected specimens!

Many species may arrive paler or whitish in color. This is completely normal. Macroalgae shift their pigments inward during transport to protect from light and stress; color returns within a few days under good aquarium lighting and flow.

We ship via 2-Day service on Mondays and Tuesdays only to ensure specimens arrive healthy. You’ll receive a notification with tracking information as soon as your order ships.
