Regular vs. Nano Blue Leg Hermits
We offer two sizes of Clibanarius tricolor, and we hand-select only true Blue Legs (not the look-alike species that show up in mixed shipments). Both sizes pull their weight, just in different ways.
Regular Blue Legs (0.5"+ with mostly white shells)
These are the classic Blue Legs everyone knows. They are sturdy, reliable cleaners that handle the bigger jobs. Regulars pick at detritus, leftover food, diatoms, film algae, and whatever other trouble pops up on your rockwork. They suit mixed reefs, deeper sand beds, and tanks that need a solid, all-around clean-up crew.
Nano Blue Legs (<0.5", tiny black shells)
Nanos are the tiny specialists. They slip into tight spots where the larger hermits simply cannot fit. Their size makes them great for macroalgae tanks, frag racks, nano reefs, and any system that needs careful cleaning without large hermit traffic. They weave through macro, crawl between rock crevices, and graze the small patches of film algae and diatoms that others miss.
