Macroalgae For Marine Reef Aquariums: Rusty Spiny Gorgonian ecosystems

Rusty Spiny Gorgonian (Muricea elongata)

A beautiful photosynthetic gorgonian that features a rusty orange coloration. This species is wild collected in the Atlantic. It features a rigid, spiny skeleton with small tan polyps that have a somewhat fuzzy appearance. Gorgonians regularly shed tissue to remove buildup of sediment and algae from forming on their skeleton. All photosynthetic gorgonians require 4-5 watts per gallon to thrive. Like many corals it also filter feeds, so weekly feeding is recommended for optimal health. We offer single specimens mounted on reef plugs that range from 6-8" tall.
