Macroalgae For Marine Reef Aquariums: Purple Ribbon Gorgonian ecosystems

Purple Ribbon Gorgonian (Pterogorgia anceps)

A beautiful shallow water photosynthetic gorgonian that features a dark purple or golden color. This particular gorgonian is often angular and has 2-3 rows of polyps that extend down the sides of each blade. This species is very hardy in the aquarium. Gorgonians regularly shed tissue to remove buildup of sediment and algae from forming on their skeleton. We offer single specimens mounted on reef plugs that are 6-8" tall.

Most of the specimens currently available are the golden variant with some purple markings. This species was hit hard by the bleaching event last year but are starting to come back slowly but the purple colors are rare.
