Macroalgae For Marine Reef Aquariums: Purple Frilly Gorgonian ecosystems

Purple Frilly Gorgonian (Psuedopterogorgia elisabethae)

A beautiful photosynthetic gorgonian that features a deep purple color with soft delicate irregular branches. This species is similar to the purple plume but is a bit stiffer and typically grows more horizontal. Gorgonians regularly shed tissue to remove buildup of sediment and algae from forming on their skeleton. All photosynthetic gorgonians require 4-5 watts per gallon to thrive. Like many corals it also filter feeds, so weekly feeding is recommended for optimal health. We offer single specimens mounted on reef plugs that are 6-8" tall.
